Traditionally a Titan killer, the RTX 3080 Ti instead has to carve out a place between the RTX 3090 and RTX 3080.

1. Introduction

With a specs sheet straddling the RTX 3080 and the RTX 3090, and the same Ampere tech under the hood, it's no shock where the RTX 3080 Ti ends up in our tests. Let's look at the specs of a GPU destined for only the beefiest PCs...

2. Specs

The RTX 3080 Ti retains as much zeal for 4K gaming as you'd expect from a $1,1999 card. It's not quite a RTX 3090 killer, but this is still the second most powerful GPU Nvidia has ever made.

The RTX 3080 Ti routinely holds a 10-20% performance lead over the RTX 3080 in our benchmarks. The jump in price over its predecessor still makes it tough to wholly recommend, though.

3. Performance

Placed next to the original RTX 3080, the 3080 Ti simply isn't a sensible choice. As a competitor to the $1,499 RTX 3090, though, the new GPU delivers something awfully close for $300 less.

4. Analysis

The RTX 3080 Ti delivers a light shove to the RTX 3090, rather than a knife through its heart. It's still an amazing card for 4K gaming... even if buying one at MSRP will likely be impossible for months to come.
