A crew of brightly-colored space engineers are stuck trying to repair a ship while discovering who among them (get it?) is the imposter trying to murder the rest. Deliciously devious multiplayer fun.

Among Us

The infinite block-'em-up isn't demanding specs-wise, making it the perfect game to mess around with on a laptop.

Minecraft

This tiny strategy game is one of our early favorites in 2021. It makes you feel like you're playing some forgotten, VGA-era fantasy RPG—one containing the mystery and difficulty of an early '90s game.

Loop Hero

An instantly addictive card combat roguelike, which takes the strategic fun of deck-building board games, and marries it with the sensibilities of the likes of Risk of Rain, or The Binding of Isaac.

Slay the Spire

A phenomenal, bite-sized turn-based strategy game from the makers of FTL. It's incredibly replayable, with different mech squads and tactics to master.

Into the Breach

One of our favorite RPGs ever. Gorgeous in a sad, gritty way, its painterly 2D environments won't push your laptop. This gripping detective RPG feels a lot like playing a brilliantly seedy visual novel.

Disco Elysium - The Final Cut

A huge game in a tiny package, with a miniscule install size and modest system requirements. This crafting adventure has been constantly updated, and is amazing value for just $10.

Terraria

Possibly the prettiest game you can play on a laptop thanks to its hand-drawn, classically animated 2D graphics. This granite-hard platformer is worth playing for its stellar soundtrack and art alone.
