Following the critical acclaim for Mortal Kombat X and 11, a new Mortal Kombat movie was inevitable.

Here's everything we know about it so far...

It's releasing March 5, 2021

Pre-production has already begun, and filming will take place in South Australia later this year.

Simon McQuoid is directing

McQuoid is known for his commercial work. Here's a snippet from an H&R Block joint he worked on starring Jon Hamm. MK will be his feature debut.

Greg Russo wrote the script

Russo's worked on a ton of videogame screenplays, including scripts for new Resident Evil, Saints Row, Space Invaders, and FEAR movies.

It's going to be rated R

Earlier this year, Russo tweeted, "MK WILL be R-Rated and for the first time EVER, FATALITIES will FINALLY be on the big screen." Excellent news.

Joe Taslim is playing Sub-Zero

He's a kick-ass martial artist and actor you might recognize from The Raid: Redemption. The rest of the cast has not been announced.

South Australian Premier Steven Marshall says it's going to be the biggest film production in the state's history.
